Innovation, Art and Shipping Containers - Meet Mintel's New Office
Mintel has long led the way in market analysis, and after we helped them create Mintel House, they are spearheading the design world too.
Their previous office, a 16-week Category B refurbishment project we delivered back in 2011, was already at the forefront of contemporary office design, but the new workspace in central London’s Blackfriars takes it to another level.
Involving an 18,000 ft² space, this was a big project with big ideas behind it.
The company briefed us to create an office mirroring their beliefs in innovation and thinking ahead of the curve. To create such an expansive vision, we worked closely with a range of designers and artists, including award-winning architect Suzanne Brewer and specialised graphic artists.
We worked closely with Suzanne, delivering the design intent and overseeing the high-level fit-out, featuring unique details like a Caribbean style food shack with sushi style drinks conveyor, shipping container meeting rooms, and an auditorium with a wooden athletics floor and accompaning sports tables.
Meanwhile, the artists job was painting floor-to-ceiling portraits of famous innovators and Mintel founders on meeting room walls, while expert typographers created stunning displays at various points around the office, tying together the flow of the building.
The result of all this coordinated work is a novel and memorable space that combines the quirky with the practical, and the creative with the professional, delivering a flexible and multifunctional workplace. Mintel themselves said their new office is ‘challenging the status quo of the corporate workspace and bringing something completely new to the office environment’. At Rubicon, we are proud to have played such a critical role in delivering the project vision.
